Our creature comforts

Better late than never.

All this and heaven too.

Not lost, but gone before.

God's favour is happiness.

After a storm comes a calm.

God warns before he wounds.

To fish in troubled waters.

Those that are above business.

The better day, the worse deed.

Saying and doing are two things.

Blushing is the colour of virtue.

Their own second and sober thoughts.

They that die by famine die by inches.

The service of sin is perfect slavery.

Days of trouble must be days of prayer.

None so blind as those who will not see.

Brown bread and the Gospel is good fare.

Love is the root; obedience is the fruit.

Grace in the soul is heaven in that soul.

God's promises are to be our pleas in prayer.

Men of polite learning and a liberal education.

He rolls it under his tongue as a sweet morsel.

ThanksGiving is good but ThanksLiving is better.

Sanctified afflictions are spiritual promotions.

Anger cannot rest in the bosom where love reigns.

Prayer time must be kept up as duly as meal-time.

Brotherly love is the badge of Christ's disciples.

Hearkners, we say, seldom hear good of themselves.

The first lesson in Christ's school is self-denial.

God is either your worst enemy or your best friend.

Holy joy will be oil to the wheels of our obedience.

Those who complain most are most to be complained of.

What peace can they have who are not at peace with God?

A state of apostasy is worse than a state of ignorance.

Earth is embittered to us, that heaven may be endeared.

That which God plants he will take care to keep watered.

Do nothing till thou hast well considered the end of it.

Christ is our temple, in whom by faith all believers meet.

It is not talking but walking that will bring us to heaven.

We cannot expect too little from man nor too much from God.

Those that go gold into the furnace will come out no worse.

Prayer is the midwife of mercy, that helps to bring it forth.

Every tear of sorrow sown by the righteous springs up a pearl.

The riches we impart are the only wealth we shall always retain.

The best we can say to God in prayer, is what He has said to us.

None live so easily, so pleasantly, as those that live by faith.

The fear of God reigning in the heart is the beauty of the soul.

To a good man, God gives not only wisdom and knowledge, but joy.

Knowledge is vain and fruitless which is not reduced to practice.
