Controversial proposals, once accepted, soon become hallowed.

Growing up, I always considered the Grand Ole Opry to be hallowed ground.

Journalism has a special, hallowed place for stories of its practitioners' persecution.

Some people insist that hallowed professional teams should never change their nicknames.

To us, the ashes of our ancestors are sacred and their resting place is hallowed ground.

Duty, Honor, Country. Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be.

In the glory which overhangs Palestine afar off, we imagine emotions which never come, when we tread the soil and walk over the hallowed sites.

I don't say I was 'proceeding down a thoroughfare;' I say I 'walked down the road'. I don't say I 'passed a hallowed institute of learning;' I say I 'passed a school'.
