A fundamental duty of government is to protect its people.

Oklahomans care about the environment and the state in which we live.

As Oklahomans, we believe in bold entrepreneurship and good stewardship.

Quite frankly, Oklahomans are pretty smart. They know how to choose candidates.

I don't believe I ever saw an Oklahoman who wouldn't fight at the drop of a hat - and frequently drop the hat himself.

Few things are as sacred and as fundamental to Oklahomans as the constitutional rights of free speech and the free exercise of religion.

I'm working alongside the White House and other members in the House to lessen the tax burden that currently weighs on so many Oklahomans.

What unites Oklahomans today is what has always united us: Our unshakable faith. Our love of family and compassion for others. The unlimited promise of a hopeful future.

Oklahomans value our children and our seniors. Oklahomans value traditions of faith. Oklahomans value our heroes, our veterans. Oklahomans value innovation and the creative arts.

During my first visit, I was really struck by how deeply religious many Oklahomans are. It is a very conservative state and as somebody who grew up in a very liberal country, it was jarring to me at first.

This is not the time for partisan bickering. This is not the time for politics as usual. Some of us are Democrats. Some of us are Republicans. Some of us are Independents. Above all, we must be Oklahomans first.

The different Washington, D.C.-based groups and the different special interest groups, they all want to be able to pick who they want to be a senator. They don't speak for everyone, and they definitely don't speak for Oklahomans.
