My sense of humor has saved me more than a couple of times in my life.

To me, in life, if you have a sense of humor about it, that's how you deal with anything.

But if you don't watch me, I will try and sneak in some humor. I see humor everywhere in life around me.

Humor has been the balm of my life, but it's been reserved for those close to me, not part of the public Lana.

Humor is the most important thing in life. It trumps everything else, and it's the only thing that helps me deal with everything else.

I'm a huge fan of Steve Martin. He's hilarious, but he has this depth to him and this way of dealing with the difficult things in life with a sense of humor that I think has helped me as an actress.

I grew up around so much new agey stuff. Part of me takes it lightly because I'm so used to it. It was my parents. It wasn't some path I discovered and want to share with people. It's just been a very natural part of my life. There's humor to it and there's seriousness to it, too.

It's always the girl comedy and the guy comedy. It bums me out. You'd think there'd be a progression, from James L. Brooks and Nora Ephron into more subtle humor and behavior and psychology. All these interesting things people can learn about themselves by watching talented writers comment intelligently on someone else's emotional life.
