I wanted to learn how to skate backwards and they wouldn't help me and they went off and left me on my own.

Injuries are a huge thing for skating. I think skating is a very unnatural sport for the body, very tough on the joints.

I am often criticized for spending too much time off the ice, but if you were in my shoes, you'd see how necessary it is.

I would encourage people to participate in sports. You don't have to dream of being an Olympic or a professional athlete.

I was thrilled one year when I was younger when not only did my brothers get hockey sticks for Christmas - but I did too!
